On July 19, 2023 the OMC travelled to the Travis Solomon Lacrosse Box at Generations Park to be a part of the 35th Annual SRMT Wellness Day. As part of a week long celebration, The Wellness Day allowed programs and services from Akwesasne and surrounding areas to showcase their services with interactive displays. “This is an excellent time for both community members and fellow organizational employees to have the opportunity to see all the different resources and services there are to offer to the Akwesasne community. The Health Fair is a reminder to us all that our health is a priority. Programs highlight numerous topics and activities.” Many different promotional items were given away for free and many door prize drawings were done. With approximately 120 people of all ages and genders visiting our booth alone, The OMC distributed teaching cards on children’s songs, medicine preparation, and the Baby Welcoming Speech. We had a few Cloth Diapering Kits on hand, as well, and we were able to distribute to 5 mothers who had babies under 1 year old. The mothers were asked to review a presentation on Cloth Diapering and then complete a little quiz. Upon completion they received the Diaper Bag full of Cloth Diapering Goodies. Each bag contained a set of Cloth Diaper covers, a pack of reusable liners, dry/wet bags, all-natural diaper wipe spray, Tubby Todd’s all over ointment and a bamboo sleeper for baby.
